Welcome to the Katharine Mitchell School of Dance - a long established, local school dedicated to the traditions of providing dance education and tuition in a friendly and caring environment.

The Katharine Mitchell School of Dance carries on a strong tradition of teaching classical ballet with teachers who are all fully qualified and registered with either The Royal Academy of Dance (“RAD”) or The International Dance Teacher’s Association (“IDTA”).

The School also offers dance lessons in Modern Jazz, Street Jazz and Tap within its wide-ranging curriculum. Children of all ages, abilities and experience are welcome to attend and experience the joy of learning how to dance.

Dance lessons for all abilities taught by experienced, professional teachers

• Learn To Dance: The school’s curriculum caters for a range of interests and standards. We offer dance lessons in Tap, Modern Dance / Jazz and Street Jazz in addition to classical Ballet.
• Experienced Dance Teachers: As well as being qualified in their respective fields, your dance teachers are all former dancers who have performed at the highest level and have subsequently gained many years teaching experience.
• Free Trial Dance Lesson: Before committing to lessons we offer all new pupils a free trial lesson. We’d like to think that we’ll convince you to stay!
• Where: All dance lessons take place in Crediton; either at the Methodist Church Hall or the Lords Meadow Leisure Centre’s Dance Studio. Both venues have parking and changing facilities.
• When: Dance lessons take place on either weekdays after school or on Saturday mornings. Please see our timetable for more information on Term Dates and individual classes.
• Age range and abilities: The school aims to cater for children of all ages (from 2 ½ years up to 18) and all abilities. New Jazz dance classes for adults start in September 2009. Don’t worry if either you or your children haven’t danced before. One of the joys of teaching dance is seeing the reaction from new pupils.
